We hired the most cheerful van we could find and pointed it at the red rocks. The road ran straight for hours, and nobody minded.

No signal, no problem

The sandwich rule

Make lunch in the morning, eat it at the best view of the day. Fill up with fuel at every town, carry more water than you think, and stop before you are tired.
