We carried two tents up a mountain and woke above the clouds. It was hard work, and we would do it again tomorrow.
The climb
Pick a short route for your first night, with a hut or a lake nearby. Pack light, and give the kids one job each.
The view at sunrise paid for every step.
Kit that mattered
Warm sleeping bags, a small stove for hot chocolate, and head torches for everyone.
